As a NAUI divers, we are proud to be active Green Divers!
NAUI divers from the United Emirates, Bahrain, and Oman gathered on January 16, 2016 to spend the day cleaning up Kalba Port. We were honored to meet our brothers and volunteer divers, coming together as Green Divers.
Approximately 50 divers participated in the clean-up campaign and a total of 9 tons of waste consisting of tires, ropes, fishing nets and plastic bags were removed.
A baby turtle was found almost completely covered by marine fungus/shells in Dubai before moving to a diving trip. She was suffering from limited movement, a full body out of "normal" shape and one front flipper was missing. There were no signs of wound/blood/injuries found. All fungus and shells were removed completely from her body, head and fins and was released to start a new journey.
We commit ourselves to protecting and saving the marine environment. As a NAUI divers, we are proud to be active Green Divers!
Editor's Note: The following images were sent from our Green Divers in the UAE on January 16, 2016. We thank all our NAUI Green Divers around the world for all the voluntary hours spent preserving our ocean planet.
